Mental health care doesn’t always have to begin and end on a therapist’s couch. Sometimes healing happens through conversation. Sometimes it happens through creativity, community, education, shared experiences, or simply being in a space where you feel understood.
At K&B Wellness, we believe mental wellness should extend beyond the therapy room. That’s why we’re proud to have clinicians who not only support their clients individually but also create and participate in experiences that promote mental health throughout our communities.
This November, two members of the K&B Wellness team are involved in community events that demonstrate two very different—but equally valuable—approaches to wellness.
Self-Care Is Part of Mental Health Care
When life becomes centered around work, parenting, relationships, responsibilities, and caring for everyone else, intentional self-care can easily become an afterthought.
But self-care isn’t selfish or simply about pampering yourself. It can be an important part of managing stress, reconnecting with yourself, building relationships, and creating moments of joy.
On Saturday, November 7 at 5:00 PM, Keeping ME in Mind will host a fall-themed Self-Care Saturday: Paint & Sip at Social Haus in South Holland, Illinois.
The evening will include food, drinks, guided painting, and an opportunity to relax and connect with others.
Creative activities can provide something many adults desperately need: permission to slow down.
Whether it is painting, journaling, music, movement, spending time with friends, or enjoying a quiet evening alone, intentionally making room for enjoyable experiences can be an important addition to your overall mental wellness routine.
Creating Space for Men’s Mental Health
Men’s mental health also deserves intentional conversation and culturally responsive spaces.
On November 19, K&B Wellness clinician Dr. Cameron Frazier, DSW, LCSW, will serve as lead panelist and clinical specialist for Chicago State University’s MSW Alumni Network presentation:
“The Work: A Journey of Experiential Therapy and Rites of Passage for Men.”
The panel will explore experiential and somatic therapeutic approaches, depth psychology, clinical practice, group work, and traditional rites of passage for men.
These conversations matter.
Many men have grown up receiving messages about strength, masculinity, vulnerability, and emotional expression that can make discussing mental health difficult. Creating spaces specifically designed for men to explore identity, relationships, emotional wellness, and personal growth can help challenge those expectations.
Mental health professionals also benefit from learning approaches that allow them to better understand and support male clients.
Wellness Can Look Different for Everyone
One person may benefit from individual therapy.
Another may find support through a men’s group.
Someone else may reconnect with themselves through creativity, movement, spirituality, community events, or meaningful relationships.
Often, wellness includes several of these things working together.
At K&B Wellness, we want individuals and families to recognize that taking care of their mental health can happen in many different ways.
Sometimes that means processing trauma.
Sometimes it means learning healthier coping skills.
Sometimes it means strengthening relationships.
And sometimes it means spending an evening painting, laughing, connecting, and remembering that joy deserves a place in your life too.
K&B Wellness: Supporting Mental Health in Our Community
We are proud to see members of the K&B Wellness team bringing mental health education, clinical expertise, creativity, and connection into the community.
Our mission extends beyond providing therapy. We want to help normalize conversations about mental health and create opportunities for people to experience wellness in ways that feel accessible, culturally responsive, and meaningful.
If you or someone you love could benefit from additional mental health support, K&B Wellness offers individual, couples, and family therapy with in-person and virtual options available.
Your mental health matters—in the therapy room and beyond.
